Frequently asked questions

Therapy can support you to become more self-aware, in other words, it helps you to understand your thinking, behaviours, feelings and coping mechanisms so that you figure out what helps or hinders you in your life choices.

Therapy works if you commit to yourself and your work. Therapy cannot change other people or external circumstances. Therapists provide psychoeducation, feedback, and guidance.

If you fully engage with therapy, this I know: You will develop more self awareness and insight, you become comfortable in your skin and develop an instinctive understanding of how best handle challenging and rewarding life experiences.

Your therapeutic goal(s) drive our work.  During the session, we focus on the present as a powerful opportunity for you to try new and different perceptions, interpretations, and actions.

Your past helps us to make sense of how some of your recent decisions, actions and reactions may be helping or hampering you.

If you’re new to therapy or are exploring unprocessed trauma, therapy may make you feel a bit worse before you feel better.

Feeling worse is a sign that you may finally be working through repressed pain.  Once processed you need never feel like that again about the situation you worked through.

My approach requires weekly sessions for a minimum of 12 weeks, after which I ask for 4 weeks’ notice of ending.  I require 5 working days for cancellations/rescheduling.   With less notice, if possible, I will try to reschedule you to a later time during the week so you do not have to pay the fee, but I cannot guarantee this

Sessions are normally on the same weekday and at the same time.

Outside of agreed sessions, phone conversations or e-mail correspondence under 15 minutes is free; after that, I charge in 15-minute increments (pro-rata)

Single individual or couples session length: 50 minutes

Individual: £80.00

Couple: £100

Extended session length: 75 or 100 minutes.

Concessions: Limited number of places for trainee therapists on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10 am – 4 pm (please ask).

I will reduce the fee in other special situations (e.g. unwaged or on a state pension), according to what you can pay.  The reduced cost sessions are Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.  If this reflects your circumstances do let me know when you get in touch.

I accept cash, bank transfers and PayPal.

Yes.  I am BUPA registered and AXA registered.

E-mail me at info@cascadetherapy.co.uk or call me on (+44) 07588624892. I will make every effort to get back to you within 24 hours, and usually before that.

It is especially important that you feel you can grow to trust your therapist.

A good fit takes time to develop so in the first instance I like to offer a free 15-minute online consultation (Zoom or Teams). It is a chance for you to tell me about your situation, ask me questions and get a sense of what it’s like talking to me.

If we agree to work together, I encourage rigorous honesty; let me know if something I say or do upsets, disturbs, or bothers you.

Currently, I am working exclusively online due to COVID-19 shielding.

Technically the therapy takes place where you are resident.

I am Registered to practice therapy in the UK. However, I can and do provide therapy and coaching for people outside of the UK providing that your country / State / Province / Region does not prohibit the use of such services.
